Our Evaluation methodology

The evaluation of extra-financial research reports is undertaken on a half-yearly basis.

A criteria-based framework has been developed to assess research in a consistent and rule-based process produced in the six-months covered by each evaluation. The criteria used for the evaluation are designed to reward both high quality research and also those reports which cover a broad research universe.

Results for each research report are aggregated at the level of research provider to identify the highest ranked organisations. These institutions are commended for EAI commission allocation.

Research reports are evaluated by EAI on the basis of the following key criteria:

1- Scope of extra-financial issues covered

  • Coverage of relevant extra-financial issues

2- Overall presentation and originality

  • Includes an assessment of the user
  • friendliness, originality and transparency of research outputs

3- Investment relevance of sector and issue analysis

  • Thoroughness of top-down analysis
  • Quantitative modelling of sector impacts
  • Allocation to both long- and short-term horizons

4- Comparative company analysis

  • Analysis of EFI impacts on company-specific investment value drivers
  • Integration into stock valuation
  • Ranking of companies, integration of EFI analysis in stock recommendations.

5- Coverage of research universe

  • Coverage of relevant sectors
  • Coverage of global investible universes.
